The Big Day
Ah, this couple, this wedding. All the pretty summer-time feels with tons of love and laughter from family and friends, I miss those days! I have had the absolute pleasure of photographing not only Katharine’s wedding but also her sister and brothers wedding as well. I have gotten to know this family well over the years and they feel like my own family now. I can never thank the Calo family enough for trusting me to capture so many priceless memories, truly an honor.
When wedding number 3 had rolled around I had gotten to know both Katharine and Paul fairly well, I’d like to think this is what made them so comfortable in front of the camera, but if you know Katharine and Paul, they know no strangers and therefore were a breeze to photograph. I had SO much fun when I traveled to NYC for a workshop and got to photograph their engagement session in the Big Apple. Make sure you check those photos out over here.
How did you two meet?
College! Ohio University
How long have you been together?
How did he/she propose?
I had all of our friends and family waiting at a bar in Brooklyn, I tricked her into walking back to my office a few blocks away to grab something and then on the way back to the bar with a camera crew behind us I dropped to a knee and that’s all she wrote. I arranged for all of our friends to surprise us at a brewery after to celebrate!
What do you love to do together?
Everything but specifically going on walks in Soho, exploring NYC through food and pizza. Traveling, watching the Patriots beat the Steelers. I convinced her to be a Duke fan so now we watch those games together.
If you could pick one word that describes you as a couple, what would it be?
What do you love most about her?
She has a unique ability to truly care for everyone she comes across especially her friends and family. She loves creating special memories and doing things for others. She has an uncanny ability to read people which makes her so successful in her career, she is smarter, sharper and more talented than I. I admire her and will always strive to make her proud of me. She has an amazing sense of humor and can take over and own a room with her smile and personality. She can make everyone around her feel better about themselves and that is what makes her special. I love everything about her and I knew it when I met her.
What you do love most about him?
How he can make me laugh like no one else I’ve ever met. From the moment we met I’ve had a smile on my face whenever we are together and I know in 50 years it will be the exact same. We’ve literally grown up together, seeing each other turn into different people since we met so young and I happen to love every new version of him and I can’t wait to see what that version will be as my husband.
