Oak Grove at Jorgensen Farms
The Big Day
Amy and Brett’s wedding was my first at Oak Grove at Jorgensen Farms! I first heard about Oak Grove via social media in the winter months and immediately knew it was gonna be a new fav venue. In fact, my best photographer friend, Ashley West and I contacted Jorgensen ASAP to set up a styled shoot there, Love and Light. You can check out a little bit more about that over here. So, needless to say when Amy and Brett contacted me I squealed with delight at the chance to shoot there. Turns out, I’m shooting a lot there in 2018 and 2019 and can’t wait! I love my Oak Grove/Jorgensen couples!
Amy and Brett had the most beautiful September day for a wedding and the gorgeous sunflower field was in full bloom, does it get any better than that? We were blessed with the prettiest sunset and snuck in a few extra photos while their guest played yard games. It truly is the perfect venue and a recent new addition for larger receptions was even added! Check out Jorgensen’s website here.
Amy and Brett met through mutual friends in 2013. They were introduced to one another in downtown Columbus at Brothers. After being introduced they headed to another bar where they talked and got to know each other more. Amy was somewhat dating someone else at the time, nothing serious, and Brett said, “well when that doesn’t work out, I would love to take you out sometime.” As soon as Amy left the bar she Facebook friended Brett and he messaged her the next day making fun of her for it. They talked on and off for a few months then finally got together for some drinks one evening. They instantly clicked and have been together ever since.
September 2016 Amy and Brett were getting ready to host a house warming party for a house they had recently bought together. They had just gotten a new puppy (Oscar) that summer and after all of their summer travels decided to throw a get together with family and friends. Side note: you can see cute little Oscar when he made a little appearance during their engagement session. Their best friends came over before to get ready and enjoy a few drinks before other guests arrived. After getting ready Amy walked downstairs and sees Oscar running towards her with a red collar on. She instantly thought “where is the collar I bought him and why is he not wearing it?” See, she had bought him the cutest navy blue with orange pineapple collar to wear to the party so was a bit confused when it wasn’t on. As he approached her she saw he had a heart shaped tag around the collar that said “Will you Marry Me” on it and Brett walked up behind him and got down on one knee and proposed. No one else knew but their families so they enjoyed surprising all of their other friends as they showed up that evening. Way to go on that proposal Brett!
What do you love to do together?
Take Oscar on walks/dog park, cook together, go out to dinner, watch Game of Thrones, travel, visit friends.
If you could pick one word that describes you as a couple, what would it be?
Happy/Loving (that was two words lol).
What do you love most about her?
How selfless she is.
What you do love most about him?
He is patient, kind, and caring. He would do anything and everything for me in a heartbeat and is always there to comfort and console me when I need it most. He is the voice of reason when I think the world is ending. He makes me laugh and smile. And most importantly makes me feel loved and appreciated always.
— Amy and Brett, thank you for allowing me to capture these special moments for you guys. Your wedding was a dream, you guys were a dream!
